ABOUT THE PROPRIETORS
Angelo Sacerdote has had a life-long interest in food, farming and baking pies. Many years ago, Angelo worked as a cook at a sea food restaurant, and then a produce buyer at the High Falls Food Coop in Upstate New York. He got the idea to produce the documentary "Fed Up! Genetic Engineering, Industrial Agriculture, and Sustainable Alternatives" after learning about the genetically engineered crops that were being incorporated into our food supply. This project took him to California, where for the past decade, he worked at a media non-profit organization called Bay Area Video Coalition, while honing his skills as a pie baker and a gardener. He had his documentary closed-captioned in exchange for apple pies.
Lina Hoshino is a pie-maker, filmmaker, and graphic designer. She grew up living in France, Japan and the United Stes. "I like the potential of holding diverse cultures in a crust." Said Lina. She spent part of her childhood in Japan where desserts are taken very seriously, and her teen-age years learning about restaurant business while working at a family restaurant in New Jersey. She also spent a good portion of her adulthood living in San Francisco, just two doors down from one of the top-rated bakeries, where she perfected her art of appreciation for desserts. Lina has owned and operated a video and graphic design studio for many years and is bringing to Petaluma Pie Company her passion for dessert as well as design and business skills. Her favorite pie is Shaker Meyer Lemon Pie. |
